Rocky Mountain Tour Wraps Up at Westminster

SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist closes out their tour of the Rocky Mountains with their third game in seven days when they take on the Griffins of Westminster College in Salt Lake City, Utah, on Thursday, March 21 at 6 p.m. Central.
 
Both teams will be looking for their first Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference win of the season. Oklahoma Baptist will also be looking to break a four-game losing skid, while their counterparts and hosts at Westminster will try to earn their first win of 2019.

SCOUTING THE GRIFFINS
  • Westminster's offense hasn't gotten off the ground yet this season, scoring only 4.33 goals/game. However, Westminster has played four top 25-ranked teams this season, including two that are currently ranked in the top seven. Eleven of WC's 26 goals have been scored off free-position shots
  • Maddie Ingman leads all WC players with five goals and four assists, while Lauren Shoughro is second on the team with four goals
  • Passing has been a hallmark for the Griffin's this season, with 11 of their 15 goals coming off an assist from open play
  • Defensively, WC is only giving up 18.7 shots/game, but opponents are converting 50.9 percent of their shots in to goals. Mikala Anderson owns an 19.0 goals-against average with a 37.3 save percentage on 196 shots faced
  • The Griffins are averaging 22 ground balls/game, paced by Anderson's 26

  • Oklahoma Baptist trails, 0-2, in the all-time series against Westminster
  • The teams have played once each in Salt Lake City and Shawnee
 
OBU OUTLOOK
  • Oklahoma Baptist broke a scoring draught when they put up six goals against Fort Lewis College. The Lady Bison are now averaging 9.7 goals/game on 22.7 shots
  • Lauren McCormack needs just 15 more points to become OBU's first 100-point scorer. She leads OBU with 17 goals and four assists this season
  • OBU has three other players with 10 or more points this season: Devin Miller (12), Taylor Skomp (11) and Shay Morgan (10)
  • Averaging 27.5 ground balls/game, OBU ranks seventh in Division II in the category. Madison Gordon leads all OBU players with 25 ground balls, followed by McCormack with 21
  • Courtney Barnickle is just 21 saves away from breaking the career mark (281 – Sabrina Attaway). She currently has 47 saves with a 43.1 save percentage while owning a 14.9 GAA
  • McCormack leads OBU, and ranks third in the country, with 9.83 draw controls/game
