SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist picked up an important conference baseball victory with a 2-1 win over visiting Harding University Friday night in Shawnee. The win improved OBU to 13-9 and 9-4 in the Great American Conference while Harding fell to 14-10 and 7-6 in league play. The two teams will conclude the series with a Saturday doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
Ramon Enriquez again was clutch delivering the game-winning hit in the eighth with double that bounced off the left field wall to score
Brock Carter.
Harding was limited to just five hits through seven innings thanks to the outstanding effort of starter A.J. Merkel. Merkel struck out five and the run he gave up was a result of an OBU error.
Shane Kelso picked up the win in relief to run his record to 5-1 on the year. He pitched two scoreless innings and allowed only two base runners while striking out three.
