SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist sent its senior basketball players out winners as the Bison rolled 92-63 past visiting Harding University Saturday in Shawnee. The win improved OBU to 14-12 overall and 12-7 in the Great American Conference.
The win vaulted OBU into a three-way tie for third with East Central and Southern Arkansas, two teams they are unbeaten against.
Senior
Antonio Wade and
Dishon Lowery each scored 20 points to lead OBU. Two other seniors –
Julian Daughtry and
Tyler Lester – also scored in double figures. Daughtry had 14 while Lester scored 12 on four made three pointers.
OBU used a 13-1 run midway through the first half to put the visitors in full chase mode. Lester and
Harrison Stoddart each hit three pointers and Lowery made two free throws to grow the margin to 43-23.
OBU never allowed Harding to creep within 15 points and had 30-point leads twice. The last when reserve
Jack Ellison delighted the crowd with a three pointer with 1:12 remaining putting OBU up 92-60.
The Bison finished the game making 33-of-54 (60%) of their shots, including 11 three pointers. In addition to Lester's four triples, six other OBU players made at least one score from the long distance.
OBU closes its regular season next week with games at Arkansas-Monticello and Southern Arkansas.
