Lady Bison Face Hendrix Friday

Oklahoma Baptist Women's Lacrosse Notes
Oklahoma Baptist (0-0) at Hendrix College (1-0)

THE GAME
  • The Lady Bison are finally set to kick off the 2019 season when they travel to Conway, Arkansas, to face Hendrix College on Friday, Feb. 15 for a 7 p.m. contest
  • Winter weather forced Oklahoma Baptist to delay the start of the 2019 schedule by one week after OBU's games against Ottawa and Missouri Valley were cancelled
  • This is the latest OBU has started a season in three years

SCOUTING THE WARRIORS
  • Hendrix College is off to a 1-0 start in head coach Kristi Crowley's debut season after lighting up the scoreboard in a 23-14 barnburner against 11-woman Saint Mary last Saturday
  • Senior Morgan Dasch broke two single-game school records in the win, tallying 10 goals and 14 points (10g, 4a). She needs only 10 more goals to become the Warriors' all-time leading goal-scorer
  • Three other Warriors recorded at least a hat trick on Saturday, with Alison Watanabe and Hannah Burroughs each tallying four goals, while Sophie Mazzaro scored three
  • Alexis Truitt is 1-0 in the cage this season after posting a .517 save percentage and 15 saves. She did, however, allow 14 goals

THE COACHES
  • Oklahoma Baptist: Jordan Beech (Oklahoma), 13-28, 4th season
  • Hendrix College: Kristi Crowley (Liberty), 1-0, 1st season

THE SERIES
  • The Lady Bison trail in the all-time series against HC, 1-2, including a 0-1 mark under coach Beech
  • OBU's lone win in the series came in 2015, a 10-9 victory over the Warriors in Conway. Emily Gilbert led all Lady Bison with four goals

OBU OUTLOOK
  • Lauren McCormack and Taylor Skomp return to lead OBU's attack in 2019. McCormack was OBU's leading scorer with 25 goals and 20 assists, while Skomp notched 23 goals and one assist in her freshman campaign
  • Savannah Tompkins, Katie Kuehn and Monique Mossop will anchor the defense after combining for 52 caused turnovers and 47 groundballs last year
  • Courtney Barnickle returns in goal for the Lady Bison after posting a .416 save percentage and 111 saves in 650 minutes of action last year
  • McCormack has 64 career points (39g, 25a) and is just 36 points shy of becoming OBU's first 100-point scorer
  • Barnickle is OBU's first goalie to post back-to-back 100-plus save seasons, and is 68 save of the program record set by Sabrina Attaway (281, 2013-16)
