SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist won its 2019 softball home opener, coming back for a 4-3 victory over visiting Colorado Christian Tuesday in Shawnee.
Grace Van Horn pitched six solid innings and
Shelby Savage had a two-run triple as part of a four-run fifth inning for OBU. The Lady Bison improved to 3-2 on the year and will host CCU in a single game Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Shawnee.
Van Horn, who moved to 2-0 on the year, worked into the seventh inning before
Katie Long came on in relief. Van Horn allowed 12 hits but worked out of a number of tight situations leaving 10 base runners.
All of OBU's runs came in the fifth.
Franki Hull led off with a double and
Tyra Garcia walked before Savage's triple to right field. Savage scored on
McKenna Anderson's double. Anderson then scored on a wild pitch.
