SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist made an early lead stand up as the Bison cruised to a 7-3 baseball victory over visiting Missouri Western State Friday in Shawnee. The two teams will continue their series with a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
Jake Lipetzky picked up the win for the Bison on the mound. He scattered two hits through five innings and struck out eight batters. Lipetzky gave way to relievers
Andrew Eppenbach and
Shane Kelso to close out the game.
OBU was up 3-0 after two innings thanks in part to an RBI single by P.J. Harris and a fielding miscue by the Griffons. The Bison added to their margin with a four-run seventh inning.
Ramon Enriquez singled in a run and Harris doubled in another as the Bison worked over three different MWSU pitchers in the inning.
OBU finished the game with nine hits. The Bison offensive leaders were Harris who had two hits, including a double and two RBI's. Also aiding in the scoring was
Eric Carlson who had two hits and two RBI.
