Bison Return to Floor at East Central

SHAWNEE - The Oklahoma Baptist men's basketball team returns to the hardwood for the first time since November 23rd as they head down to Ada for a Great American Conference match-up against East Central.

Tip time for the match-up of the Bison and Tigers will be at 3:00 p.m. following the women's contest and will be on KGFF in Shawnee with Todd Miller and Scott Wanish. In their last contest, the Bison went on a huge 14-2 run in the final five minutes to close out the Rangers and earn the 83-71 win on Saturday afternoon in the Noble Complex.

The two teams exchanged possessions back-and-forth until the game was even at 69 a piece going into the final five minutes of the game. Three points from Dishon Lowery made it a 72-69 game. After a a pair of free throws from Northwestern, they would not score again as OBU ran away with the contest including a 3-pointer from Brantly Thompson, a lay in from Thompson, and free throw from Lowery and Rashad Lewis to close out the game.

Thompson led the Bison with 18 points including four three pointers while Harrison Stoddart scored 13 points to go with five boards. Lowery notched a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds to go with two steals while Jacque Brown had 11 points, five assists, and two steals. Lewis added nine points and four assists while Mohammed Abubakar had seven points and a block.

Lewis leads the way with 12.3 points per game while shooting 44% from behind the arc. Jaquan Simms followed with 11.2 points per game and leads the team with a 45% clip from deep to go with a team-leading eight steals. Brown pitches in 10.0 points per game and 25 assists on the year.

Lowery has been the top man in the post with 8.5 points per game and 7.2 rebounds per game while big games from Thompson and Stoddart hope to continue to jump start their 2019-20 season.

They take on a East Central team that has won three of their last four with their only loss coming to Division I UTEP. Their last GAC contest was an upset-win over then 25th ranked Southern Nazarene.

They are led by their excellent senior guard Cameron Talley, who is always a threat to score the basketball as he averages 22.0 points per game. He also leads the team in assists with 12 and steals with 10. Gerren Jackson completes the dangerous backcourt with 11.5 points per game while Tyler Arnold pitches in 10.4 points per game including a blistering 47% from behind the arc. Josh Apple is the leading rebounder at nine per game.

OBU comes into the game at 4-2 overall and 1-1 in the GAC while East Central checks in with a 6-2 record and a 1-1 conference mark.
