SHAWNEE - Fresh off a huge offensive performance in the win over Southwestern Oklahoma State, the Oklahoma Baptist men's basketball team will close the 2019 portion of their season with a road contest against Central Oklahoma followed by their final contest before break against Central Christian at the Noble Complex.
Tip-off is slated for 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday in Edmond between the Bison and the Bronchos. The game will be on KGFF in Shawnee with Todd Miller and Scott Wanish. OBU will follow that with a 7:00 p.m. contest following the women's game on Thursday with coverage on KGFF and live video available on obubison.com.
In a wild contest that saw 68 fouls called and 86 combined free throws taken, the Oklahoma Baptist men's basketball team shot over 50 percent from both the field and behind the arc while getting to the free throw line 50 times in a 113-96 win over Southwestern Oklahoma State on Saturday afternoon at the Noble Complex to move ot 5-3 on the season.
Jaquan Simms finished with 22 points including four 3-pointers, seven boards, five assists, and a steal.
Harrison Stoddart added 17 points and eight rebounds while
Brantly Thompson had 13 points and 14 boards to go with five assists.
Rashad Lewis scored 13 points while
Jarius Hicklen also had 13 points off the bench.
Trey Green pitched in 11 points and three 3-pointers whil
Dishon Lowery had 10 points and eight rebounds.
It was a season-high for Simms as he leads the team in scoring, alongside Lewis, with 12.5 points per game. Simms is shooting a 45 percent clip from behind the arc and has a team-high 10 steals to go with 23 assists. Lewis is at 44 percent from behind the arc and is second on the team in assists with 26.
Stoddart checks in with 10.1 points per game while Lowery adds 8.9 points per game and 7.5 rebounds per game. After returning from injury, Thompson has found his form as he checks in with 8.3 points per game and 5.4 rebounds per game.
Jacque Brown leads the team with 28 assists while Green comes off a career-high 11 points and three 3-pointers in his last outing.
They take on a Central Oklahoma team that is in a rebuild phase under first year head man Bob Hoffman. They check in with a 3-8 record and have lost their last four contests, all on the road. The Bronchos do carry a 2-0 record at home into their match up against the Bison.
Dashawn McDowell leads UCO with 12.4 points per game including 5.2 rebounds per game. Dashon Bell follows with 9.2 points per game, 38 assists, and 11 steals on the year. Justin Nimmer adds 8.5 points per game and a team leading 5.3 rebounds per game.
Central Christian of the Sooner Athletic Conference rolls into town on Thursday night as they come in with a 7-3 record in NAIA play. Isaiah Rivera leads the Tigers with 15.1 points per game to go with 15 steals on the year. TJ Williams adds 14.3 points per game and 15 steals of his own while Darrell Bryant adds 11.4 points per game and 8.8 rebounds per game.
