SHAWNEE – The OBU men's basketball team opened the 2019-20 season with a 71-64 exhibition victory over Oklahoma City University Thursday night at the Noble Complex.
 
Redshirt senior point guard 
Rashad Lewis led the way for the Bison with 16 points, to go along with three assists and a pair of steals, while junior transfer 
Jaquan Simms chipped in 11 points and three steals in the winning cause.
 
OBU dominated the glass, outrebounding the Stars 42-23, led by senior forward 
Dishon Lowery with seven boards, followed by junior 
Harrison Stoddart and sophomore 
Mohammed Abubakar with six apiece.
 
The Bison get the 2019-20 campaign officially underway Nov. 8-9, as they host Nebraska-Kearney and Wayne State College at the Noble Complex in the Bison Conference Challenge. Tipoff between OBU and UNK is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 8, followed by a Saturday night matchup against the Wildcats at 7:30 p.m.
