SHAWNEE – The Bison dispatched the Dawgs, 3-1 (25-17, 25-18, 20-25, 25-19), on Thursday night inside Mabee Arena at the Noble Complex to stand alone as the final unbeaten team in the Great American Conference.
Oklahoma Baptist continued their trend of strong starts, forcing SWOSU into hitting .049 and .000 in the first two sets to jump out to a quick 2-0 lead. Despite playing the Bulldogs close in the third set, OBU struggled to side-out in the set, dropping just the second set in their 11-match win streak in the process.
Nursing a 2-1 lead, Oklahoma Baptist finished with their most efficient set of the evening offensively, swinging .361 with 15 kills to close out the match.
Hayley Daniel led the way with 16 kills and 14 digs for a double-double, while also adding four total blocks.
Malia Leatherland also finished with a double-double on the strength of a 10-kill, 16-dig performance, chipping in with three service aces as well.
Rylen Moore was the third and final Bison with a double-double, recording 21 assists and 14 digs, while
Diana Carranza had a team-high 20 digs.
Oklahoma Baptist (15-3, 5-0) enjoys a weekend off before returning to action on Tuesday, Oct. 8 in Fort Smith when they face Arkansas-Fort Smith to close out the nonconference portion of their slate.
