SHAWNEE – The Bison close out their home slate this week with a pair of Great American Conference contests against Harding and Ouachita Baptist.
Oklahoma Baptist first takes on Harding on Thursday, Oct. 24 at 5:30 PM before turning around to square off with Ouachita Baptist on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 10 AM. Prior to Saturday's match, the Bison will honor their decorated senior class.
Sitting at 5-2 with 15 points, the Bison hold a narrow two-point lead over Southwestern Oklahoma State atop the GAC standings. With 12 points each, Harding and Ouachita are still within striking distance of first place three matches remaining after this week.
The Bison outstrip the field with 24.6 shots/match and lead the league in total goals with 28 this season.
Ruth King leads OBU with six goals, while
Tori Kitchel,
Kelsi Mensen and
Reagan Mann each have four this term. King and
Hannah White share the team honors, and rank third in the GAC, with three assists apiece.
Defensively, the Bison are one of four teams that has a league-high four clean sheets this season; however, no team has a better goals-against average than OBU at .98.
Madison Morgan has stepped in goal for the Bison in relief of an injured
Emily Griffith, posting a .5 GAA and .857 save percentage while accounting for two clean sheets in four outings.
Harding is averaging 1.2 goals/match, paced by Melanie Spurgeon's seven. Defensively, HU is giving up 1.9 goals this season but has shut out four opponents. Jessica Woessner owns a 1.8 GAA and .832 save percentage through 11 matches this season.
Ouachita enters the week averaging a league-low 9.4 shots/match but is averaging 1.1 goals/match. Ashlyn Heckman has led the charge offensively for the Tigers, posting five goals this year. In goal, Erin Webster owns GAC-best marks in both GAA (.9) and save percentage (.873).
