SHAWNEE – Northwestern Oklahoma State presented a problem that Oklahoma Baptist was unable to solve as the Bison suffered a home heartbreaker, 1-0, to the Rangers in extra time on Saturday afternoon.
Despite owning more than 60 percent of possession in the match, and outshooting the Rangers by 11 shots, the Bison were unable to find a breakthrough. The two sides wrapped up regulation with the score knotted at 0-0.
Eight minutes into the first extra-time period, an unfortunate bounce from a Northwestern corner fell to the Rangers' Whitney Blanchard who squeaked it in past
Madison Morgan's near post for the golden goal.
Oklahoma Baptist (7-5-1, 5-2 GAC) are set for their final two home matches of the season next week. Homecoming weekend kicks off against Harding on Thursday, Oct. 24 at 5:30 PM at the OBU Soccer Complex.
