Women Make Easy Work of Visiting SAU

SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist made certain of its outcome early taking care of visiting Southern Arkansas from early on in its way to an easy 67-47 victory in women's basketball action Thursday in Shawnee.

Victoria Blankenship scored 20 and Katy Custer added 14 for the Lady Bison who improved to 8-9 on the year and 4-7 in the Great American Conference. The win helped OBU erase the sting of two straight one-point losses in their previous outings.

OBU's margin was 20-6 after the first quarter and grew the lead to 25 points before taking a 36-20 lead into the half.

The Lady Bison never allowed SAU closer than eight points and quickly re-asserted themselves and pushed their lead back well into twin digits with a flurry of points.

OBU ended the game making 28-of-60 (46.7%) from the field, including six three pointers. Custer had half of the team's total with three while Charissa Price added two and Shariah Anderson added one.

The Bison finished the game with a 35-33 advantage. Blankenship pulled down nine to lead both teams.

OBU plays the final game of its four-game home stand Saturday, hosting Arkansas-Monticello. Game time is set for 1 p.m. in Shawnee.
