Oklahoma Baptist (11-10, 4-1 GAC) are riding a three-match win streak, their best of the season, and currently sit tied for second in the Great American Conference. The Lady Bison will be looking to create separation from one of those teams on Friday night as Henderson State (15-3, 4-1 GAC) is tied with OBU after seeing their 14-match win streak snapped on Monday when they fell to Harding in four sets.
Â
The Lady Bison averaged 15.15 kills/set last week, just over 2.50 kills/set better than their season average of 12.58.
Mikayla Watson and
Malia Leatherland are both averaging better than three kills/set, with Watson leading the team at 3.23 kills/set and Leatherland second at 3.08.
Jenna Gremmel is first among OBU setters, handing out 7.06 assists/set, though
Hayden Blair has raised her average to 3.91 after averaging 6.00 assists/set last week.
Â
Oklahoma Baptist was everywhere along the back row last week, averaging 22.08 digs/set, nearly 3.50 digs/set over their season average.
Kelsi Chavez leads the team with 4.27 digs/set, followed by
Delayna Mills at 3.63.
Brecken Roquemore continues to lead the team with .88 blocks/set, though
Nicole Fleitman and
Taylor Williams are trending up after averaging 1.00 and .92 blocks/set respectively last week.
Â
As a team, Oklahoma Baptist ranks first in Division II in both team kills (969), team assists (897), team digs (1,436) and total attacks (3,018).
Â
Henderson State ranks third in the GAC with an average of 12.78 kills/set. Courtney Bolf leads the Reddies, and is second in the league, at 3.50 kills/set. Taylor Scalezi provides the bulk of Bolf's service while averaging 6.14 assists/set.
Â
The HSU block will prove challenging for the Lady Bison. Henderson State's average of 2.42 blocks/set is the 11th-best mark in the country, led by Karlie Greene's 1.13. Gigi Garramone, named GAC Defensive Player of the Week earlier this week, leads the back row while digging out 4.16 digs/set.
