Volleyball Hosts SWOSU, UAFS Thursday

SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist volleyball welcomes Southwestern Oklahoma State and the University of Arkansas, Fort Smith to Mabee Arena inside the Noble Complex. The Lady Bison get the triangular started with a Great American Conference match up against SWOSU at 3 p.m. before facing UAFS at 7 p.m. In between OBU's two matches, SWOSU and UAFS will square off in a neutral site contest at 5 p.m.
 
Oklahoma Baptist (9-10, 3-1 GAC) currently stand alone in fourth place after a 3-2 win over East Central on Tuesday night in Ada, Oklahoma. SWOSU (11-2, 4-0 GAC) are in first place in the GAC, while UAFS (8-6) has yet to open up their Heartland Conference slate.
 
Averaging 12.2 kills/set, OBU ranks seventh in the GAC, and are led by Mikayla Watson and Malia Leatherland at 3.28 and 3.00 kills/set, respectively. Jenna Gremmel leads the team with 6.96 assists/set. However, Hayden Blair has averaged 7.75 assists/set over the last three outings, including a 45-assist performance against ECU.
 
The Lady Bison defense has held opponents to 11.67 kills/set and a hitting percentage of .173 compared to OBU's .183. Kelsi Chavez leads OBU with 3.97 digs/set, followed by Delayna Mills at 3.77 and Watson at 3.26. Brecken Roquemore paces the team with .86 blocks/set, with Taylor Williams second on the team with .70.
 
Southwestern Oklahoma State rank fifth in the league with 12.41 kills/set, led by Danusia Sipa Borgeau's 3.27, the fourth-best mark in the GAC. The defense for the Bulldogs has given up 12.86 kills/set, the third-highest mark in the conference.
 
UAFS is averaging 12.58 kills/set, led by the tandem of Anna Demmer and Debra Rogers who have combined for 7.04 kills/set. Opponents are hitting just .144 against the Lions, but securing 12.48 kills/set.
