SHAWNEE – A busy week for Oklahoma Baptist volleyball reaches its conclusion on Saturday when the Lady Bison head to Denton, Texas, to take on Dallas Baptist and Texas Woman's in nonconference action. First serve against the Patriots is set for 12 p.m., followed by a 2 p.m. first serve against the Pioneers.
 
Oklahoma Baptist (7-9) are 1-1 on the week after dropping a heartbreaker to Southern Nazarene on Thursday night in Shawnee. A pair of wins on Saturday would move OBU to .500 for the first time since the opening weekend of the season.
 
The Lady Bison are averaging 11.00 kills per set this week, paced by Malia Leatherland's 3.50 average on 66 attack attempts. Mikayla Watson and Nicole Fleitman are scoring 2.50 and 2.25 kills/set respectively. Oklahoma Baptist continues to deploy a two-setter system, with Jenna Gremmel handing out 6.38 assists per set, while Hayden Blair has averaged 3.00 assists per set for the week. As a team, OBU is hitting .210.
 
Defensively, OBU is allowing 11.50 kills/set, though opponents are hitting just .135 for the week. Kelsi Chavez is averaging 5.50 digs per set through eight sets. At the net, Brecken Roquemore is averaging 1.43 blocks per set.
 
Dallas Baptist (6-5) are also 1-1 on the week, with a match still to play later Friday at the Heartland Conference Preseason Tournament. The Patriots are led offensively by Brooke Clark's 2.53 kills/set, and paced defensively by Gabby Grindele's 3.72 digs/set.
 
Texas Woman's (6-5) fell Tuesday to No. 23-ranked Texas A&M, and is also set to play later today against Texas A&M-Kingsville. Maggie Pyles leads the Pioneers with 3.15 kills/set. Defensively, Bailey French boasts a team-high 5.29 digs/set.
