SHAWNEE – The first taste of rivalry action this fall on Bison Hill is set to take place on Thursday night at Mabee Arena inside the Noble Complex when Oklahoma Baptist volleyball hosts Southern Nazarene at 7 p.m. This is the second of four matches for OBU this week, and the only home match in that stretch.

Prior to and during the match, OBU volleyball will be participating in a shoe drive in partnership with Witness Kicks. Fans are asked to bring their unwanted shoes, in good condition, to the Noble to donate to those in need. Since Witness Kicks was founded in 2013, the organization has been successful in its ministry to share the Good News and has also supplied over 5,000 individuals with shoes.

Oklahoma Baptist (7-8, 2-0 GAC) sits in a three-way tie atop the Great American Conference standings after a sweep of Southeastern Oklahoma State on Tuesday. Southern Nazarene (6-8, 0-1 GAC) dropped their GAC opener on their home floor to Southwestern Oklahoma State, also on Tuesday evening.

The Lady Bison are averaging 12.10 kills per set, led by the duo of Mikayla Watson and Malia Leatherland who both rank in the top nine in the conference with 3.23 and 2.78 kills per set, respectively. Jenna Gremmel ranks fifth in the GAC with 7.75 assists per set, though since the GAC/MIAA Crossover she has split time at the position with Hayden Blair. Blair is averaging 3.00 assists/set.

Oklahoma Baptist ranks in the top four in the conference in two major defensive categories, sitting third with 17.71 digs per set and fourth with 1.81 blocks per set. Delayna Mills is fifth in the GAC at 4.47 digs/set, and Kelsi Chavez has chipped in with an average of 3.57 digs. Brecken Roquemore's .98 blocks/set also ranks fifth in the league.
