ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Oklahoma Baptist knocked off Henderson State 6-3 Monday to take the Great American Conference road series.
The Bison scored three runs in the first inning. After back-to-back singles by
Brett Berghammer and
Brett Bloomfield,
Zane Gelphman lifted a sacrifice fly to center for a 1-0 lead.
Juan Gonzalez added an RBI double and
Jake Gozzo followed with another sacrifice fly.
Garrett McKee added a two-out home run to right field in the fourth for a 4-0 OBU lead.
The Bison added two more in the sixth when Bloomfield doubled and scored on a double by
Kaden Betsch. Gonzalez added a sacrifice fly.
Mychal Yarbor pitched seven scoreless to pick up the win. He struck out seven batters and held HSU to four hits.
OBU had 10 hits, including two each by Berghammer, Bloomfield and McKee.
Now 10-3 overall and 5-1 in the GAC, the Bison are scheduled to host Cameron Tuesday at 5 p.m. OBU returns to conference play with two games Friday at 3 p.m. against Southern Arkansas.
