SHAWNEE – After opening up Great American Conference play last week with a 1-1 mark, the Lady Bison are set to welcome East Central on Tuesday for a shot at starting league play 2-1 for the first time since joining the GAC.
 
Last Time Out
  • Oklahoma Baptist hit the road for the first time this season and returned home with a win after taking down Northwestern Oklahoma State, 92-83, in Alva
  • Autumn Avina continued her strong start to the year, recording a double-double with 21 points and 14 assists
  • Four other Lady Bison touched double figures, including: Victoria Blankenship (19), Mikayla Shulanberger (15), Katy Custer (13) and Imari Bell (11)
  • Shulanberger and Custer also posted double-doubles with a team-high 10 rebounds apiece
  • The Lady Bison bench outscored Northwestern's, 24-17, while also capitalizing on second-chance points with a 16-8 advantage
Scouting the Tigers
  • East Central is 3-3 on the year, but are 0-2 in league play after falling to both Southwestern Oklahoma State and Southern Nazarene last week
  • The Tigers are putting up 63.2 ppg, the eighth-best mark in the GAC, while shooting just 38.2 percent from the field
  • Lakin Preisnir is ECU's leading scorer with 16.5 ppg. No other Tiger ranks in the top 30 in the GAC in scoring
  • Opponents are averaging just 59.2 points across six games this year while struggling to get clean looks. East Central ranks second in the conference with an opponent field goal percentage of just 37.0 percent
  • ECU holds a plus-1.2 rebounding margin while averaging 36.2 rebounds. They're led by Preisnir, whose 8.8 rpg is the second-best mark in the league
Lady Bison Offensive Report
  • OBU makes among the conference elite with an average of 78.0 points, paced by Avina's 20.4 ppg. The senior point guard's scoring average ranks second in the GAC
  • Blankenship and Custer also average double figures with 13.3 and 11.3 ppg, respectively
  • Avina turned in back-to-back performances of 14 assists last week, holding a 2.33 assist/turnover ratio in the two-game stretch. Of the four 10+ assist outings by a GAC player this year, Avina is responsible for three of them. Her 9.6 assists/game is the top mark in Division II
  • The Lady Bison are one of just two GAC teams with three players recording a double-double this year, led by Avina's GAC-leading three
  • OBU has assisted on 53.5 percent of their field goal makes this year
  • The Lady Bison rank first in the GAC in field goal percentage (46.4%), but last in free throw percentage (61.7%)
Lady Bison Defensive Report
  • Giving up 66.0 ppg, OBU enjoys a plus-12.0 scoring margin. Opponents are shooting 41.5 percent from the field against the Lady Bison, but just 25.3 percent from long range
  • OBU pulls down an average of 38.6 rebounds, good for a plus-4.1 margin in the category. Katy Custer ranks seventh in the GAC with 7.4 rebounds, while Blankenship (5.4) and Avina (5.0) both rank in the top 20 in the league
  • Shulanberger and Avina rank first and second in the conference with 4.3 and 3.6 steals/game, respectively. As a team, no team in the league is better than OBU with an average of 14.4 steals
  • Lady Bison own a plus-6.29 turnover margin, good for fourth in the GAC
