Lady Bison Rally for OT Win

MAGNOLIA, Ark. – McKenzie Cooper knocked down a late three-pointer to send the game to overtime and Oklahoma Baptist took an 82-77 win at Southern Arkansas Thursday.
 
Southern Arkansas led from the 8:26 mark of the first quarter until the 5:12 mark of the fourth quarter when Cooper dropped in a three-pointer to tie the game.
 
The Lady Bison trailed by as many as nine in the second quarter but a 7-0 run, triggered by an Autumn Avina three-pointer, pulled OBU to within 28-27.
 
OBU trailed 30-27 at the half.
 
Southern Arkansas got out to a 10-point lead early in the third quarter and led by as many as 11 in the fourth quarter, but Lexi Williams and Cooper scored five each in an 11-1 run to set up the late.
 
Shaylan Coleman scored on a driving layup with 3:52 to go in regulation, giving OBU its first lead in about 30 minutes of clock time.
 
SAU scored the next five points before Cooper hit the game-tying three-pointer with 12 seconds left.
 
Williams and Coleman scored four points each in OBU's 11-point overtime period.
 
Cooper led the Lady Bison with 27 points, followed by Lexi Williams with 17, Kadesha Cooper with 11 and Avina and Coleman with 10 apiece. Coleman also had nine assists and five steals while Tasha Edge led the team with 10 rebounds.
 
The Lady Bison return to action Saturday, concluding their south Arkansas trip at Arkansas-Monticello, at 1 p.m.
