SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist and Southwestern Oklahoma State traded big momentum swings, but the Bison had the final answer in a 104-96 win Saturday.
 
OBU, which used an 18-0 run to dispatch East Central Thursday, scored 16 straight to take a 22-5 lead with 11:10 left in the first half. 
Adnan Jahic had five points in that string, which included contributions from five different players.
 
Southwestern got as close as nine points the rest of the half and OBU led 50-38 at the half.
 
The Bulldogs used a series of short scoring runs to eventually take an 83-80 lead with 5:15 remaining in the game. Down 86-84, the Bison put together a 14-3 rally to rebuild the home lead to 98-89. 
Travon Moore got 10 points in that string.
 
The game included 74 free throws with OBU knocking down 41 in 46 attempts. The school record of 51 made free throws was set in 1957 in a four-overtime game.
 
Vladimir Nemcok led the Bison with 23 points and five assists. 
Chandler Rickey had 21 points, Moore had 15, Jahic contributed 12 and 
Brantly Thompson 11.
 
Thompson and 
Caleb Norris led the team with six rebounds each.
 
The Bison shot 51 percent from the field and 89.1 percent from the free throw line.
 
OBU collected its eighth win of the season (8-9) and fifth Great American Conference victory (5-6), both new single-season highs since joining the NCAA.
 
The Bison start the second half of the conference season Thursday with a trip to Magnolia, Arkansas, to battle Southern Arkansas in a 7:30 p.m. tip.
