Bison Fall at Buzzer

SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist got the perfect play to tie the game late but lost on a half-court buzzer beater Thursday to Southeastern Oklahoma State, 89-86.

Down three, Southeastern fouled Vladimir Nemcok with 3.2 seconds remaining. Nemcok made the first free throw and purposely missed the second with Chandler Rickey sweeping in for the game-tying put-back with 2.4 seconds remaining.

Southeastern freshman Adam Dworsky lofted a shot from just inside half court that hit nothing but net as time expired.

Rickey led the Bison with 27 points on 12 of 13 shooting from the field, while Travon Moore added 21 and Brantly Thompson 14.

The Bison used a 12-2 run to build a 28-14 lead at the 11:20 mark of the first half, but Southeastern answered with a 10-0 run.

OBU held a modest 43-39 lead despite shooting 50 percent (10-20) from three-point range in the first half. Seven different Bison had a three-pointer in the first half, led by Harrison Stoddart with three.

SOSU didn't lead in the second half until Dworsky scored with 4:16 remaining.

Rickey led the Bison with six rebounds and two blocked shots while Nemcok had nine assists.

OBU was outscored 11-6 at the free throw line with each team shooting 11 free throws.
