SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist women's soccer looks to remain unblemished in the Great American Conference as they take on Harding at the Stevens Soccer Complex in Searcy, Arkansas, on Saturday, Sept. 23 at 11 a.m.
Oklahoma Baptist (5-1, 1-0 GAC) will strive for their third win in as many outings this week after dropping Texas Woman's and Ouachita by a combined tally of 5-2.
Emmily Infante and
Hannah White have both found the back of the net in the first two matches of the week and are looking for more when they visit Harding, one of two teams picked ahead of them in the GAC preseason polls earlier this year. The Lady Bison are averaging a league-high 22 shots per match.
Defensively, the Lady Bison secured their first clean sheet of the season while holding Ouachita to a paltry three shots on goal. The strong defensive front has limited opposing offenses to an average of just nine shots per match this season, while also pressing forward and contributing two goals (
Jennifer Goethe and
Lara Haring-Lovett) and two assists (
Kelsey Bumgarner and
Hannah Evans).
Emily Griffith holds a 1.29 goals-against average, the third-best mark in the GAC, and a .619 save percentage.
Harding (2-3-2, 1-0 GAC) survived a late push by Southern Nazarene on Thursday to open GAC play with a win, and is unbeaten in their last four outings. An average of one goal per match, Harding's offense ranks fifth among conference teams, though Bethany Sutherland is tied for third in the league with four goals to her credit. In goal, Anna Claire Lewis paces all GAC goalkeepers with a 1.07 GAA, and also owns a .800 save percentage.
