Lady Bison Fall to No. 13 Central Oklahoma

EDMOND, Okla. – (HTML Stats) In the first match against a nationally-ranked team in the NCAA Division II era, Oklahoma Baptist fell 0-3 (17-25, 13-25, 16-25) to No. 13 Central Oklahoma to wrap up the first day of action at the GAC/MIAA Crossover.
 
The Lady Bison (5-6) offense struggled against the Bronchos' (12-1) stifling defense, finishing with a .078 attack percentage.
 
Big runs from Central Oklahoma were too much to overcome for the Lady Bison. OBU jumped out to an early 10-6 lead in the first set, but a 13-2 stretch by UCO put the Lady Bison away. The Bronchos closed the second set on a 10-1 sequence and sealed the match with a 10-2 streak in the final frame.
 
Sophia Couto led the way with eight kills, Suzanny Figueiredo had two service aces and Hayden Blair finished with 22 assists. Nicole Fleitman added three block assists and Figueiredo held down the back line with 21 digs.
 
OBU wraps up the GAC/MIAA Crossover Saturday with two matches played at Southern Nazarene in Bethany, Oklahoma. The Lady Bison face Fort Hays State at 10 a.m. and close out the regular season tournament schedule with a rematch against Emporia State at 4 p.m.
