TROUTVILLE, Va. – Oklahoma Baptist scored in just one inning, but that was enough as the Lady Bison used a
Bry Flanagan grand slam for a 5-1 win over Judson in the NCCAA World Series Wednesday.
Â
McKenzie Jones started and allowed just one run through three innings before giving way to
Amanda Peterson, who picked up the win with four scoreless innings of relief, striking out three.
Â
"It took us a while to flip the switch, but McKenzie and Amanda kept us in the game against a strong offensive ball club," said Lady Bison Coach
Pam Fink.
Â
OBU got on the scoreboard in the top of the sixth.
Katie Reyes singled and moved to second on an errant pickoff throw.
Madison Vaughan reached base on a third-strike wild pitch and the Lady Bison loaded the bases on a catcher's interference call to put
Cheyenne Demaree at first.
Â
Flanagan then ripped her second grand slam of the season over the left field fence.
Â
Jill Shipman then doubled and scored on a base hit by
Miranda Garza.
Â
"Some strange things happened in that sixth inning but that grand slam in a national tournament is what we're going to remember for a long time," Fink said.
Â
OBU had seven hits, including two each by Flanagan and Demaree.
