MCPHERSON, Kan. – Oklahoma Baptist is headed back to the NCCAA World Series after defeating Southwestern Christian 8-4 in the finals of the Central Region Tournament Saturday.

OBU took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first on an RBI single by
Josh Timms but SCU scored twice in the home half of the inning and took a short-lived 2-1 lead.

Joseph Moran tied the game with a solo home run in the second inning and the Bison took the lead for good in the third on an RBI ground out by
Zane Gelphman and a solo home run by Timms.

Bob English scored on a wild pitch in the sixth and Timms singled in a run in the seventh for a 6-4 lead.

Brett Berghammer launched a two-run home run for the final margin in the top of the eighth.
Â
OBU had 11 hits, including three each by Berghammer and Timms.

Tyler Gibson picked up the win with four innings of relief.

The Bison head back to Prasco Park in Mason, Ohio, to defend their national championship May 24-27.

OBU rides into Ohio with a 36-15 overall record and on a 13-game win streak.
