Lady Bison Split Two at SWOSU

WEATHERFORD – Bry Flanagan had five seventh-inning RBI as Oklahoma Baptist split at Southwestern Oklahoma State Saturday, winning the first game 8-5 before losing the second 11-8.
 
The Lady Bison won the opener, 8-5, using a six-run seventh inning that included Flanagan's grand slam.
 
Flanagan delivered an early 1-0 lead with an RBI single in the second.
 
Southwestern scored the next three runs and didn't trail until the seventh inning.
 
OBU scored once in the sixth on an error, making it 3-2, but trailed 5-2 going to the seventh.
 
Bailee Saye had an RBI single and Miranda Garza drew a two-out bases-loaded walk to make it 5-4 before Flanagan ripped a grand slam down the left field line for the 8-5 lead.
 
The Lady Bison had 12 hits, including two each by Cheyenne Demaree, Jill Shipman, Garza and Flanagan.
 
Haylee Zimmerman got the win.
 
OBU took a 2-0 lead in the first inning of the second game when two runs scored on a single by Demaree.
 
Southwestern scored five in the bottom of the first and had OBU staring down the barrel of a run-rule loss, 10-2, in the fifth inning.
 
The Lady Bison scored four runs in the fifth, getting one on an illegal pitch, two more on a Demaree home run and the fourth on an RBI single by Garza.
 
Katie Reyes doubled in a run in the sixth, but SWOSU got a run back in the sixth.
 
Flanagan came up again with the bases loaded in the seventh and delivered a sacrifice fly for the final margin.
 
OBU racked up 11 hits in the game, getting three from Demaree and two apiece from Reyes, Shipman and Garza.
 
Saye took the loss.
 
OBU returns home for a Thursday-Friday GAC series with East Central at Lady Bison Park. The teams play at 4 p.m. Thursday and at noon Friday.
