SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist split a doubleheader with Northwestern Oklahoma State Friday, losing the first game 9-5 before recording an 8-1 win.

OBU trailed 3-0 in the opener before
Morgan Hughes singled in
Shelby Savage to make it 3-1 in the second.

Down 5-1,
Sam Barry homered in the fifth.

OBU scored three times in the seventh with an RBI single by
Bailee Saye, and RBI grounders by
Shelby Savage and
Miranda Garza.

OBU had 10 hits in the game, including a home run, double and single by Barry, a double and a single by
Madison Vaughan, two singles by Saye and a double by
Jill Shipman.

OBU fell behind 1-0 in the fourth inning on an unearned run, but took the lead in the home half of the inning on an RBI single by
Morgan Hughes and a run-scoring error.

Hughes added a sacrifice fly to start the scoring in a six-run sixth inning.
Rachel Birchfield ripped her first home run with a runner aboard to make it 5-1. Saye singled in two more runs before scoring on an error.

McKenzie Jones allowed one unearned run to get the win while
Haylee Zimmerman recorded a nine-out save with three shutout innings.

Barry made a pair of dazzling catches facing the left field wall to quell Northwestern rallies.
