SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist used a 30-point second quarter and held off a late charge by Southern Nazarene for an 83-79 victory Monday night.

The Lady Bison trailed 26-23 after the first quarter, but shot 67 percent in the second quarter and took a 53-45 lead to halftime.

Southern Nazarene nearly closed the gap in the third quarter, but OBU pushed the lead back out to nine points midway through the fourth quarter.

The Crimson Storm battled back and trimmed OBU's lead to 78-77 with 1:17 to go but
Lexi Williams scored in the paint to make it 80-77 with 58 seconds to go.

Despite missing four consecutive free throws, OBU held an 80-79 advantage with 21 seconds to go.
Autumn Avina made two free throws at the 15 seconds mark for an 82-79 lead and
Cameerah Graves scored another for the final margin with five seconds on the clock.

"We had to take care of the basketball," said Coach
Casi Bays of holding on late. "We had taken some quick shots and some silly shots. We finally made that adjustment."

Katy Custer led the Lady Bison with 25 points on 8 of 16 field goal shooting. She also had eight rebounds.

Tasha Edge shot 60 percent from the field and finished with 21 points to go with her nine rebounds.

Graves scored 17 points and dished out six assists.
Â
Custer, Edge and Graves combined for nine three-pointers and shot a combined 56 percent from behind the three-point line.

Now 7-17 on the season, the Lady Bison head to Southwestern Oklahoma State Thursday for their final road trip of the season. Tip-off is at 5:30 p.m.
