Chandler Rickey rained dunks and layups to the tune of 24 points in Oklahoma Baptist's 97-84 loss to No. 23 Arkansas-Monticello Thursday in the home and Great American Conference opener from the Noble Complex.
 
 Rickey, who was honored with a commemorative basketball for his 1000 points prior to the game, was 10 of 13 from the field.
 
Adnan Jahic came off the bench for 17 points, including three three-pointers and 
Travon Moore tossed in a dozen.
 
The Bison shot a strong 57 percent from the field, made nine three-pointers and hit free throws at a 79-percent clip.
 
A dozen offensive rebounds by the Weevils gave Monticello 12 more shots and the visitors scored 20 points at the free throw line to go with 11 three-pointers.
 
The Bison showed great determination in the second half. After falling behind by 25 points, OBU used runs of nine and seven points to close the gap to 87-77 with 2:58 to go. Rickey had five points in the 9-0 run and five in the 7-0 run.
 
The lead shrunk to eight points with 41 seconds left.
 
Now 1-2 overall and 0-1 in the GAC, the Bison host Southern Arkansas Saturday at 3 p.m. The Muleriders fell at SNU, 90-81, Thursday.
