SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist tips off the Great American Conference men's basketball season with a home game against 23
rd-ranked Arkansas-Monticello at 7:30 p.m., Thursday.
 
OBU will commemorate 
Chandler Rickey's 1000
th career point with a presentation before the game. At halftime, the OBU baseball team receives its NCCAA National Championship rings.
 
The Bison enter the game at 1-1 after beating host Southwest Baptist and falling to Lincoln at the GAC-MIAA Challenge in Bolivar, Missouri.
 
Britt Hammons leads the Bison at 18 points per game. He also averages seven rebounds and two steals. 
Travon Moore carries a 12-point average and Rickey averages 10.5 points and a team-best nine rebounds per game.
 
Arkansas-Monticello is off to a 2-0 start with wins over Concordia-St. Paul and Minnesota-Crookston.
 
Derylton Hill and Tyrin Jones average 23 and 20 points, respectively, to lead the Boll Weevils. Cobe Goosby averages 17 points and a team-best 5.5 rebounds and Karim Mawuenyega leads the team with four assists to go with his 14.5 points per game.
