Lady Bison Celebrate Senior Night Victory

Box Score (html)

SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist women's soccer made sure their seniors' final regular season match on Bison Hill was memorable, putting five past reigning Great American Conference Goalkeeper of the Week, Ashlynn Pritchett, in a 5-1 victory on Tuesday night in Shawnee.

As a result of the win, the Lady Bison are one win away from clinching the program's first GAC regular season title and earning the right to host the GAC Tournament.

Kelsey Bumgarner got the scoring started quickly for OBU, collecting a rebound of a corner and hammering home a shot in 11th minute for a 1-0 lead. The lead for OBU doubled five minutes later as the Lady Bison worked a play off another corner that saw Abigail Parker earn an easy finish on the doorstep after two quick passes from Kerregan Edwards and Hannah White.

Oklahoma Baptist wrapped up the first half scoring with a goal in the 20th minute. It was again White who unlocked the SNU defense with a low cross, but this time Emmily Infante got on the end of it for a finish inside the six-yard box.

Ruth King scored her team-leading 10th goal of the year after Bumgarner did well to save a ball that look to roll out of bounds deep in the Lady Bison's attacking third. The sophomore right back sent in a low cross, and like the last two goals, King found enough space inside the six for an easy finish in the 66th minute.

Though SNU pulled one back on a long-range effort, Halle Hill restored the four-goal advantage, cleaning up her own rebound on a breakaway to put the finishing touches on the final score.

Following the match, OBU honored its two graduating seniors, Anna Dellinger and Ashleigh Gruns during Senior Night festivities.

Oklahoma Baptist (13-1-1, 8-0-1 GAC) looks to wrap up the GAC regular season title when they face East Central in Ada on Thursday, Oct. 19 at 4 p.m.
