Women’s Soccer Hosts Rivals Tuesday

SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist women's soccer wraps up a five-match homestand against Southern Nazarene in rivalry action on Tuesday, Oct. 17 at 5:30 p.m. at the OBU Soccer Complex. The Lady Bison are currently riding a three-match win streak against SNU.

Oklahoma Baptist (12-1-1, 7-0-1 GAC) is currently enjoying a 10-match unbeaten run, and sit seven points clear at the top of the Great American Conference standings heading into Tuesday's match. Southern Nazarene (3-10, 1-6 GAC), conversely, have won one of their last 10 contests, a 2-1 win over Ouachita Baptist last Thursday. The Lady Bison beat the Crimson Storm, 2-0, at Putnam City High School earlier this year.

Ruth King is tied for second in the GAC with nine goals, pacing an OBU side that's averaged 2.21 goals per match this year on 21.86 shots. Hannah White is fifth in the league on six goals, while Abigail Parker is tied for seventh with four goals. King also leads the team with seven assists, the second-most in the GAC this year.

Opposite OBU's potent offense is a beleaguered SNU defense that's given up an average of 2.46 goals through 13 outings, and has yet to shutout an opponent this year. Ashlynn Pritchett owns a 2.44 goals-against average and .756 save percentage.

The Lady Bison defense has shut out three of their last four opponents, and owns a GAC-best six clean sheets this season. A stout back line, manned by Rachel Beiermann, Kelsey Bumgarner, Jennifer Goethe and Lara Haring-Lovett has permitted only 8.6 shots per match this season, and been even more stingy in their last four outings allowing just 4.8 shots. Emily Griffith leads the GAC with the only sub-1.00 GAA at .90, while also posting a .729 save percentage.

Southern Nazarene's offense ranks near the bottom of the GAC at an average of 1.08 goals per match, though 10 of their 14 goals have been off an assist. Meagan Chase leads SNU with four goals this season.
