SHAWNEE – Despite enjoying a man advantage for much of extra time, Oklahoma Baptist men's soccer fell at home to Harding, 2-1 (2OT), in Great American Conference action on Thursday night. The loss is OBU's second of the season to Harding, and moves them to 2-2 in GAC play with two matches remaining.
Luis Romero was on target for his fourth goal in two matches, putting the Bison up 1-0 in the 54th minute. The junior forward received a great slotted ball by
Jonathan Martinez that put him in on HU goalkeeper Michael Wasson. Romero chipped Wasson for the goal.
Harding would answer in the 73rd minute to send the match to extra time. Andrew Cunha then received a straight red card in the 92nd minute. With just under three minutes to play, OBU gave up a breakaway while pressing forward and Harding made the most of their chance.
Oklahoma Baptist (4-6-1, 2-2 GAC) has a quick turnaround as they face Ouachita Baptist on Saturday, Oct. 14 at 3 p.m. in the squad's penultimate GAC contest of 2017.
