SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist heads to Arkansas to resume Great American Conference action Thursday at Southern Arkansas.
The Bison are 4-4 overall and 1-3 in the GAC while the Muleriders enter at 5-5 overall and 3-1 in the GAC.
Steven Green and Chandler Rickey are averaging 17.6 and 17.5 points respectively and fifth and sixth in the Great American Conference in scoring average. They are the best 1-2 punch in the league with their 35.1 points per game average.
With his 18 points and 10 rebounds Tuesday, Green picked up where he left off from the Christmas Break and now has four consecutive double-doubles. In that four-game stretch, he is averaging 19.8 points and 11.2 rebounds. Green this season has six double-doubles and has scored at least 10 points in every game. He has reached 10 rebounds in all but two games.
Southern Arkansas won both games of the series last year but the Bison made a good showing in Magnolia, playing the Muleriders to within three points in a high-scoring 94-91 contest.
Travon Moore was already averaging a very helpful 12 points through the break. He displayed even more resourcefulness Tuesday with the absence of point guard Vladimir Nemcok by picking up five assists against one turnover.
Kevin Franceschi has been OBU's leader on the road, averaging 21.5 points and 6.5 rebounds during the trip to Arkadelphia.
Southern Arkansas isn't big on second chances. The Muleriders lead the GAC in blocked shots and field goal defense and then also lead the league in defensive rebounds and rebound percentage.
