SHAWNEE – Autumn Avina recorded the first Lady Bison triple-double in more than a decade and Oklahoma Baptist claimed an 81-79 win over Southwestern Oklahoma State Saturday in the Noble Complex.

Avina had 18 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists and OBU needed every bit of that, as well as
Katy Custer's 24 points and
Tasha Edge's 23.

The Lady Bison came out on fire and led 26-9 at the end of the first quarter and spread the lead to 49-28 by halftime.

OBU had eight three-pointers in the first half.
Â
The third quarter saw the Lady Bulldogs rally to within 59-54 and though Southwestern outscored OBU in the fourth quarter, the Lady Bison never relinquished the lead.

SWOSU had the ball for the final possession but Custer tapped the ball free and OBU secured the ball as time expired.

Custer had a double-double with her 24 points and 12 rebounds, leading OBU in both categories.

OBU was 23 of 29 from the free throw line with Avina and Custer getting all 16 of their combined attempts, both going 8-8.

Edge was 5-9 from three-point range and Custer dropped in four three-pointers as OBU finished 10-29.

OBU, now 5-12 overall and 2-9 in the Great American Conference, host Henderson State Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
