SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist returns to the hardwood Saturday to wrap up the first half of the Great American Conference schedule with a 3 p.m. game against Southwestern Oklahoma State.
While not the most prolific, the OBU-Southwestern series is the oldest on the OBU books, dating back to 1911-12 when Southwestern recorded a 31-25 win against OBU in the first Bison season of competition.
Southwestern (4-11, 1-8) comes into the game after a 75-62 home loss to Southeastern Oklahoma State. The Bulldogs are led by Devin Pugh, averaging 13.6 points per game, and Markeiese Champion at 11.5. Reshardd Harrison averages a team-best 5.8 rebounds per game. Southwestern has lost five straight since beating Randall (formerly Hillsdale Free Will Baptist).
The Bison are 4-4 at home this season and averaging just a wisp under 80 points per game. Chandler Rickey averages 18.9 points at home and Steven Green checks in at 17.5.
The Bison, in their four wins this season, average 96.8 points, shoot 55 percent from the field and 45 percent from three-point range. They also are all home games and four players (Chandler Rickey, Steven Green, Kevin Franceschi and Travon Moore) average between 15 and 21 points. Vladimir Nemcok averages six assists per game in OBU victories.
