SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist Volleyball heads to Missouri to compete at the Green and Gold Challenge in St. Joseph, Missouri. The Lady Bison will first play against the hosts from Missouri Western State on Friday, Sept. 9 at 10 a.m., followed by a 2 p.m. match against Missouri S&T.

The Lady Bison currently find themselves on a two-match slide, and sit at 3-2 on the year.
Nicole Fleitman and
Mikayla Watson continue to lead the team offensively, averaging 3.94 and 3.11 kills per set.
Kynnedy Myers has helped the cause by handing out 9.53 assists per set, fourth-best in the Great American Conference, while chipping in with 1.18 kills/set.

On the defensive side, three Lady Bison: Myers,
Katrina Horner and
Shekinah Sharpe, are averaging better than 3.00 digs per set as OBU leads the GAC in opponent hitting percentage at .151.
Cadyn Laing and
Taylor Williams have been a force at the net, combining for 22 total blocks. Laing leads the team with five solo efforts.

Missouri Western State enters the match 2-2 following the first weekend of play. Stephanie Doak and Kelsey Olion are neck-and-neck for the team lead in kills/set at 2.29 and 2.24 respectively, while Kortney Blaufuss is handing out 10.11 assists/set. Kayla Ruff leads the team defensively at an even 3.00 digs/set.

The other team OBU faces Friday, Missouri S&T, has struggled out the gates, finding themselves with an 0-4 record after one week of competition. Carlie Combs is the main offensive threat the Bison will have to stop as she is averaging 3.77 kills/set. The setter position is currently a time-share, with Alexis White and Sarah McGinnis holding averages of 5.92 and 4.00 assists/set. Corinne Stulce has covered the floor well from the back row, averaging 5.62 digs/set.

Oklahoma Baptist wraps up the Green and Gold Challenge on Saturday, Sept. 10 with matches against Northwest Missouri State and No. 24-ranked Rockhurst at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. in Maryville, Missouri.
