Match Notes |
SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist Women's Soccer is set for a Great American Conference clash with rival Southern Nazarene on Tuesday, Sept. 27 at 6 p.m. at the OBU Soccer Complex. The Lady Bison will be looking for their first conference win, as well as their first win over SNU since 2009.
Â
Oklahoma Baptist (3-3, 0-2 GAC) faced two tough tests to open conference play, taking on Harding and Ouachita, both of which qualified for the GAC Tournament last fall.
Abigail Hicks and
Ruth King currently lead the team with two goals, which ranks seventh in the league, and will hope to break OBU's run of 180 minutes without a goal when the Crimson Storm comes to town. Hicks also leads the team with two assists, while King,
Kenzi Bice and
Emmily Infante each have one helper this year.
Â
Defensively, OBU has two clean sheets this season, but has yet to shutout a conference opponent since they blanked Northwestern Oklahoma State on Oct. 8 last year in Shawnee.
Emma Beck currently ranks fourth in both goals-against average (1.60) and save percentage (.789) amongst league goalkeepers.
Â
Southern Nazarene (1-7, 0-2 GAC) has had a rough go to start the season, with their only win coming two weeks ago against Oklahoma Christian. The Crimson Storm has scored four goals through eight matches, and are led by Meagan Chase with three goals. Natasha Fuentes has a 2.50 GAA and .697 save percentage.
Â
The Lady Bison will face their first road conference test of the season on Thursday, Sept. 29 against East Central in Ada, Oklahoma, at 4 p.m.
