Men’s Soccer Snakebit by Rattlers

Box Score (html)

SHAWNEE – Shots were hard to come by for the Oklahoma Baptist men's soccer team on Friday night, and it showed on the scoreboard as OBU fell 3-0 to St. Mary's University. The Bison are now 1-1 on the season.

A slow start saw Oklahoma Baptist down 2-0 inside the first 25 minutes of the match as the Bison were unsuccessful to get any forward momentum. Despite finding their legs after the first 30 minutes, it was St. Mary's who scored the third goal of the match just before halftime in the 43rd minute.

The Bison played a better in the second half, clamping down on defense with the insertion of Jacob Tunney who started on the bench, giving up just three shots of which only one called Colin Spencer into action. Oklahoma Baptist tried to run the ball through Vicente Castillo, but the forward found himself marked tightly throughout the night despite three shots.

Colin Spencer recorded three saves on the night, but took his first loss of the season as a result of the scoreline.

Oklahoma Baptist returns to the field on Thursday, Sept. 8 for a 7 p.m. kickoff against Oklahoma City University at Stars Field in Oklahoma City.
