SHAWNEE – The wait is over and Lady Bison Volleyball fans will finally get a chance to see the team in home action Tuesday, Sept. 13 for a 7 p.m. tilt with Northwestern Oklahoma State. Not only will it be OBU fans' first opportunity to see the Lady Bison live, but it will be the first match inside the newly renovated Noble Complex.
Â
"We want to fill the stands tomorrow night," said Oklahoma Baptist head coach
Anna Howle. "We're keeping the green seats out, so fans will be able to see the awesome new graphics on the yellow bleachers. The seats are new, comfortable and state-of-the art"
Â
While supporters of the Lady Bison may be comfortable, Howle was clear that she wants to see a lively student section for what will be OBU's Great American Conference opener when Northwestern comes to town.
Â
"Home support helps a lot, especially when students come and cheer for us and create an amazing home atmosphere," explained Howle. "Our student section gives us a distinct advantage when we're playing in Noble, and our girls are really excited to see the students come out in force tomorrow night!"
Â
Last season, OBU averaged 153 fans per match while going 7-3 inside the Noble Complex, and OBU will hope for the same level of support this season. As an incentive, the first 100 students through the door to cheer on the Lady Bison will receive a free Bison shirt.
Â
The Northwestern match will kick off a five-match home stand for the Lady Bison, as they get set to host the GAC-MIAA Crossover this coming weekend.
