Bison Sweep SNU

SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist clinched the Southern Nazarene series with a doubleheader sweep of the Crimson Storm Saturday, winning 3-2 in 10 innings and 9-4 in the second game.

OBU goes for the series sweep at 2 p.m. Sunday at Bison Field, following the Senior Day recognition.

Jinny Parra went all 10 innings in the opener to get his 10th win, striking out nine and allowing six hits.
Parra is jus the sixth Bison pitcher to record two 10-win seasons.

OBU took a 1-0 lead in the second on a solo home run by Ryan Joyce – his 13th round-tripper of the season.

SNU scored two on an Anthony Wiggins homer in the third, but the Bison evened the score with an RBI fielder's choice by Joseph Moran in the fourth.

Parra allowed just three hits after the third and only one base runner over the last five innings.

OBU won the game in the bottom of the 10th when Dustyn Cook walked and scored when Hunter Heath's single to left got away from the outfielder.

The Bison had nine hits in the game, including a pair of hits by Joyce and Moran.

OBU trailed 1-0 after SNU's first turn in the second game but Brandon Cuddy tied things with an RBI triple in the home half.

The Crimson Storm took a 2-1 lead in the third before OBU grabbed the lead for good in the bottom of that inning with a sacrifice fly by Cook and an RBI single by Felipe Gonzalez.

The Bison tacked on four more runs in the fourth on back-to-back two-run singles by Heath and Cuddy.

SNU scored twice in the fifth but OBU got both runs back on a two-run home run by Heath in the sixth.

OBU produced 13 hits in the game, including three each by Heath and Cuddy and two by Kevin Olmeda.

Mike Gould picked up the win to move to 7-1 with Brad Adams allowing one hit over three scoreless innings for his second save.
