ECU Takes Two From OBU

ADA – A sixth inning grand slam capped a five-run rally that lifted East Central to a sweep of Oklahoma Baptist Saturday, 8-0, 7-3.

In a pregame ceremony, OBU and ECU welcomed three-year-old Matthew Lemming, who the Lady Bison have been praying for since he was diagnosed with pediatric cancer.

Matthew threw out the first pitch with the okay from ECU Coach and OBU Hall of Famer Destini Anderson.

"We heard he would be at the game today and I talked with Destini and she let both of our teams honor him and let his mother know we have been praying for him," said OBU Coach Pam Fink. "We've been wearing sticker on our helmets all season in his honor."

OBU dropped the first game 8-0, picking up only a single by Hannah Morris. Haylee Zimmerman took the loss, though only three of the runs were earned.

The Lady Bison took a 2-1 lead in the top of the third of the second game with an RBI double by Kasey Jo Burgess and an RBI fielder's choice by Caitlin Hall.

After ECU tied it in the third, OBU went up 3-2 in the fifth on an RBI ground out by Madison Vaughan.

The Lady Tigers scored five unearned runs in the sixth, capped by a grand slam by Bre'Anna Davis.

Bailee Saye, who allowed just one earned run, took the loss.

Burgess' double was the only Lady Bison hit of the game.

The Lady Bison return to action Tuesday at Texas A&M-Commerce.
