ADA – Bailee Saye threw an eight-inning one-hitter and Oklahoma Baptist split its doubleheader at East Central Friday, losing 6-2 and winning 1-0.
In the first game, OBU trailed 6-0 before scoring twice in the fifth inning on a two-run double by Shalee Cordell.
OBU had four hits in the game, led by Madison Vaughan with two.
McKenzie Jones took the loss.
Saye (6-3) hit two batters, walked none and had no strikeouts. It is the second OBU shutout without the help of a strikeout this season.
Saye allowed only a two-out double in the fifth inning.
The Lady Bison, who stranded nine base runners in the game, finally broke through in the eighth inning. With one out, Caitlin Hall doubled to left and moved to third on a passed ball before scoring on a single to right by Hannah Morris.
OBU had seven hits in the game, including two each by Vaughan, Morris and Corbi Parasich.
The Lady Bison close out their series at East Central Saturday in a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
