Lady Bison Split with SNU

SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist got off the deck of an 11-0 loss and ended Southern Nazarene's win streak at five games with an 8-7 win.

Kayla Wyatt got the decision for SNU in both games, checking OBU on two hits in the first game before getting lit up for five runs in 1.2 innings of relief in the second game.


Shalee Cordell broke up Wyatt's no-hit bid in the sixth and Madison Vaughan added a single in the seventh.

OBU trailed 1-0 until SNU scored 10 times in the seventh.

SNU struck first in the second game, scoring in the first on a bases-loaded walk.

OBU tied the game in the bottom of the first on an RBI double by Caitlin Hall.

SNU scored two more in the third but the Lady Bison answered with two in the fifth on RBI singles by Corbi Parasich and Jill Shipman.

The Crimson Storm added three in the top of the sixth on home runs by Sam Smith and Sydni Toilolo for a 6-3 SNU lead.

The Lady Bison erupted for five runs after two outs were recorded in the bottom of the sixth off Wyatt. Shipman drew a bases-loaded walk and Cordell followed suit to make it 6-5.

Kasey Jo Burgess lofted an RBI single to left to tie the game and Vaughan came through with a two-run single for an 8-6 lead.

SNU added its fourth home run of the game in the top of the seventh but McKenzie Jones (3-9) settled in to get the next three batters out for the 8-7 win.

OBU had eight hits in the game, including two each by Burgess and Hannah Morris.

The Lady Bison hit the road for four games at East Central Friday and Saturday.
