SHAWNEE – A walk-off win helped Oklahoma Baptist with a second doubleheader split with Southwestern Oklahoma State Friday, taking the first game 6-5 before losing 5-4 in the second.
Caitlin Hall opened the scoring in the fourth inning of the opener, stroking a three-run home run. The Lady Bison went ahead 4-0 in the fifth on a solo home run by Shalee Cordell.
McKenzie Jones twirled five shutout innings before the Bulldogs scored once in the sixth before tying the game in the seventh on a three-run home run by Taya Haney.
SWOSU went ahead 5-4 in the eighth but Cordell doubled and scored on an RBI single by Hall in the home half of the ninth to produce another inning.
Sam Barry led off the bottom of the ninth with a double before scoring on a two-out single by Kasey Jo Burgess.
Bailee Saye pitched 2.1 innings of relief to get the win.
OBU had nine hits, including two each by Cordell, Burgess and Hall.
In the second game, Southwestern plated four first-inning runs on two hits, two OBU errors and two walks.
OBU cut the lead to 4-2 in the fourth on Haylee Zimmerman's first college home run – a two-run shot to left-center.
Southwestern scored a run in the sixth to make it 5-2.
The Lady Bison rallied for two in the seventh on an RBI walk by Kasey Maddox and an RBI single by Corbi Parasich but with the tying and go-ahead runs in scoring position with one out, Taylor Eaves worked her way out of the inning to get the save for SWOSU.
OBU had eight hits, including two each by Burgess and Parasich.
Saye and Jones, pitching in relief, allowed one run over 6.2 innings.
OBU returns to action Tuesday, hosting Southern Nazarene in a 3 p.m. doubleheader.
