SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist settled for a split with Southwestern Oklahoma State Thursday, taking the first game 5-3 before losing 4-3 in the second.
Haylee Zimmerman allowed five hits and struck out three to pick up the win in game one.
OBU scored first in the second inning on an RBI single by Corbi Parasich.
Southwestern scored three times in the third inning, including a two-run single by Miranda West. From there, however, Zimmerman allowed one hit over four innings.
OBU made it a 3-2 game in the third when Madison Vaughan scored on an error.
The Lady Bison took the lead with two in the fifth inning as Kasey Maddox was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and Sam Barry singled in a run.
OBU added one more in the sixth on an RBI single by Caitlin Hall.
OBU had eight hits in the game, including two each by Kasey Jo Burgess, Vaughan and Parasich.
The Lady Bulldogs took the lead in the second inning of the second game on an RBI single by Kennedi Jackson.
The Lady Bison tied it in the third on an RBI single by Vaughan.
Southwestern went up 2-1 in the fourth on Abigail Schade's RBI single but Jill Shipman tied the game with an RBI double in the home half of the inning.
Southwestern took the lead for good with two in the fifth on a double by Samantha Householder.
OBU got one back in the bottom of the fifth on an RBI ground out by Miranda Garza.
Bailee Saye (4-3) took the loss and McKenzie Jones threw two perfect innings of relief.
OBU had eight more hits in the second game, including two each by Shalee Cordell, Vaughan and Shipman.
The two teams wrap up the series Friday with a 1 p.m. doubleheader at Lady Bison Park.
