DURANGO, Colo. – For a third straight game the Lady Bison fell to a future Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference opponent, this time suffering an 18-2 setback to Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado. It was Oklahoma Baptist's second game in three days.
The Skyhawks took the lead inside the first 30 seconds off a miscue in OBU's clearing game, jumping out to a 3-0 lead before Oklahoma Baptist got their offense rolling. Two goals in two minutes by
Alexis Martin put the Lady Bison back in the game. Unfortunately for OBU, they wouldn't find the back of the cage again for the rest of the game and Fort Lewis would add 15 more tallies to their side of the board.
"I thought we played better this game than against Colorado Mesa, even if the scoreboard didn't necessarily reflect that," said OBU head coach
Jordan Beech. "I thought there were some things to build off of defensively in the second half, but we need to get the rest of the offense producing like we did at the start of the season."
Martin continues to be a consistent threat to score. Her two goals today gives her an average of two goals per game against RMAC opponents.
Allison Ingrim tied her career high with four draw controls to go along with two ground balls.
Hannah Dowell accounted for the only two other draw controls for the Lady Bison, but tied with
Emily Gilbert for a team-high three ground balls.
Sabrina Attaway recorded 11 saves in the loss, which ties for the fifth most in a single game in school history. She is now just seven saves away from eclipsing the 250-saves mark.
The Lady Bison are now halfway through their seven-game road swing, and have just one more game this week. Oklahoma Baptist will face Colorado State – Pueblo on Friday, March 18 at 4 p.m. to conclude their Spring Break trip through the Centennial State.
