PUEBLO, Colo. – A career milestone was met despite a 17-2 loss at the hands of Colorado State-Pueblo as senior goalie
Sabrina Attaway eclipsed the 250-save plateau for her career.
Attaway, a senior hailing from Whitesboro, Texas, has been a four-year starter in the goal circle for the Lady Bison. She picked up a stick for the first time her freshman year of college and hasn't looked back, making the crease her own. Attaway had eight saves in the loss to the ThunderWolves, and she reached 250 for her career following a stellar save on a free-position attempt by CSU-Pueblo's Taylor Christensen at the 21:44 mark of the second half.
Pushing her current streak to seven games,
Alexis Martin picked up two more goals at the expense of the ThunderWolves. Her first goal was unassisted in the 9th minute of the game and cut CSU-Pueblo's lead in half. Martin followed that effort up in the opening minute of the second stanza off the feed by
Allison Ingrim in transition after she won the opening draw of the period. However, it would prove to be insufficient as the ThunderWolves cruised to victory and Oklahoma Baptist was handed a fourth straight loss.
"I'm just really happy that such a great kid like Sabrina was able to reach such career mark," said OBU head coach
Jordan Beech. "The score lines haven't been too kind to us, but she's been a steady presence in the crease for us and it can't be put into words how much she means to this team."
Ingrim also reached a new career mark, setting a new career-high for draw controls with a game-best six. The mark is tied for the fourth-most in a single game by a Lady Bison. For the first time since February 27th against Ottawa, OBU was even on the draw, tying CSU-Pueblo with 10 controlled draws each.
The Lady Bison resume their seven-game road swing next Wednesday, March 23rd against Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas. First draw is slated for 6 p.m.
