Bison Stun Harding

Oklahoma Baptist snapped a 10-game slump, knocking off a Harding squad, 86-78, that had started the week in a first-place tie in the Great American Conference.

Freshman Caleb Norris, in his second start, knocked down four three-pointers on his way to a 14-point effort.

Vladimir Nemcok led OBU with 23 points with Steven Green getting 21 while Chandler Rickey added 14 points and 12 rebounds.

Norris made the start because Sigourney Jackson became the third injury at the guard spot this season.

"I knew I had to come in and make shots," said Norris, who made a three-pointer to tie the Arkansas Tech game with nine seconds left on Thursday.

OBU had lost 10 in a row and picked up its first win since the calendar changed to 2016.

"Games like this one today are a testament to the guys on this team playing through adversity," said OBU Coach Quinn Wooldridge. "Caleb got into a rhythm and made some big plays. Steven did a good job giving us what he gave us scoring-wise."

OBU led 36-32 at the half but Harding took the lead, 43-41, with 17:31 remaining in the game.

The Bison responded with a 16-2 run with seven points from Green to establish a 57-45 OBU lead with 12:25 to play.

Norris scored five points in a 7-0 OBU run to peak the lead at 69-51 with 9:08 remaining.

Harding chopped the lead down to five points and Will Francis looked to have an open lane to the basket to make it s three-point game with 40 seconds left, but Cagney Roberson flew in to block the shot at the last moment.

The Bison went seven of eight from the free throw line from there to salt away the game.

Francis led Harding with 21 points.

OBU out rebounded the Bisons 40-28 with Roberson getting nine to go with Rickey's 12.

The Bison return to action Thursday with a 7:30 p.m. tip off against Southeastern Oklahoma State.
